Raschka's spare brush strokes remind me of Chinese calligraphy. In keeping with the Eastern art tradition, he sticks to the integrity of the flat surface. There's been a big return to the non-representational, impressionistic picturebook over the past decade, which is a nice trend. This book reminds me of the 60s and early 70s picturebooks.
